Our patent specialists Fátima Mateos, Héctor Poyatos and Jordi Elías have successfully passed the European Qualifying Examination.
We are happy to share that three of our team members—Jordi Elías, Fátima Mateos, and Héctor Poyatos—have passed the European Qualifying Examination (EQE), becoming newly certified European Patent Attorneys.
The European Patent Office (EPO) administers this annual exam for graduates or engineers with over three years of experience in intellectual property. Candidates must pass a series of demanding tests divided into five papers to qualify. Achieving this certification confirms that they have the skills needed to represent clients directly before the EPO. The EQE is recognized as one of the toughest and most prestigious exams in the IP field. According to June 2024 data from the EPO, only 262 people in Spain and 44 in Portugal hold this qualification.
Fátima Mateos holds a degree in Chemistry from the Complutense University of Madrid and a Master’s in Economic Management and Profitability Analysis of R&D Projects from UNED. She has been with our team for over 13 years, gaining extensive experience in patent prosecution, management, and advising on inventions in the areas of chemistry, pharma, and biotechnology.
Héctor Poyatos specializes in mechanical engineering, with nearly 20 years of professional experience. He is an industrial engineer from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, specializing in industrial organization.
Jordi Elías, our third newly certified EPA, also specializes in mechanical engineering and has 17 years of experience. He is an industrial engineer from the Universidad Politécnica de Cataluña and combines his technical expertise with his commercial role as a senior IP Consultant in our Barcelona office.
The dedication and hard work of these three professionals strengthen the position of ClarkeModet, enabling us to continue providing excellent patent services to our clients and partners.
