The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) has recently appointed Juan Felipe Acosta, our Country Manager Director in Colombia, as a member of its prestigious WIPO-ASIPI Arbitrators list. This exclusive roster, maintained by the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center in collaboration with the Inter-American Association of Intellectual Property (ASIPI), comprises a select group of 13 preeminent intellectual property attorneys from across Latin America. These professionals are distinguished for their expertise and extensive experience in alternative dispute resolution within the intellectual property field.
WIPO arbitrators play a critical role in resolving IP and commercial disputes through ADR mechanisms chosen by the parties as an effective and reliable alternative to litigation. Their responsibilities include overseeing fair and impartial proceedings, issuing binding decisions, and leveraging their extensive legal expertise to facilitate amicable, efficient, and confidential resolutions for the parties involved.
In addition to this appointment, in December, Juan Felipe Acosta was elected Chair of the Working Committee on Dispute Resolution, Anti-Piracy, and Anti-Counterfeiting of the Colombian Association of Intellectual Property (ACPI), a role he will hold throughout 2025. In this capacity, he will guide ACPI’s strategic initiatives in these critical areas of intellectual property enforcement and rights protection.
Commenting on these appointments, Juan Felipe Acosta stated: “Resolving disputes through judicial processes, arbitration, or alternative conflict resolution mechanisms, alongside robust anti-piracy and anti-counterfeiting strategies, represents some of the most pressing challenges for ClarkeModet’s clients today. These two appointments are both a privilege and a responsibility for ClarkeModet Colombia, as we remain committed to strengthening our service offerings and maintaining a professional team of the highest caliber.”
