The Venezuelan Patent and Trademark Office (SAPI) has reestablished the six-month grace period for trademark renewal applications in the country through an Official Notice published on July 2, 2024.
As a result, trademark renewal applications submitted during the grace period will incur a fee three times higher than the standard renewal fee.
This decision allows applicants in the country to benefit once again, and for the first time since 2008, from a measure provided for in the TRIPS Agreement and the Paris Convention, both of which Venezuela has signed.
